The Amara Legal Center is seeking a part-time (up to 20 hours/week) Legal Program Assistant. This position will provide support to full-time staff members and report directly to the Director of Development & Operations. This position is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about serving Amara’s unique client population and interested in professional growth at a dynamic and growing nonprofit.

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Development & Operations
  • Maintain all social media accounts with updated programmatic and legal information affiliated with Amara, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Conduct new client intakes in person and over the phone
  • Provide clients with referrals for other service providers as needed, provide clients with updates on their legal cases, assist clients in filling out forms for public assistance
  • Assist attorneys on individual projects, such as outreach, awareness events and training
  • Attend trainings and webinars relevant to Amara’s clientele
  • Participate in local advocacy groups, such as anti-trafficking task forces
  • Attend public legislative hearings on topics which impact Amara’s clients
  • Input and track required client services data for government grants
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all interactions with clients in Amara’s database
  • Manage all documents related to legal cases in Amara’s database
  • Assist with tracking all incoming and outgoing grants
  • Assist with maintaining an accurate record of Amara’s donors in the database
  • Manage Amara’s incoming and outgoing postal correspondence with clients, donors, and partners

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Competence in MS Word, MS Excel, Google Applications, and an ability to become competent in Amara’s case management system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop good working relationships with staff, volunteers, and partner organizations
