Post Graduate Fellowship

The Amara Legal Center is a non-profit organization located in Washington, D.C. that provides free legal services to individuals in the D.C. Metro Area who are sex workers, survivors of sex trafficking and survivors of labor trafficking where sex is a component of the exploitation.

The Amara Legal Center accepts applications from individuals who have obtained or would like to obtain outside funding to work with Amara. Amara invites applicants to apply for Amara sponsorship of applications to post-graduate fellowships.

 Amara has the capacity to accept one post graduate fellow per year. While Amara is primarily a direct legal services organization, any non-lawyer may propose a fellowship and will be considered for a fellowship if that project sufficiently advances Amara’s mission and services.

If you are interested in a fellowship, please submit your resume, cover letter with an explanation of your desired project or involvement with Amara Legal Center, writing sample, and a list of references in one PDF attachment to Please include “2017 Fellowship Sponsorship” or “2018 Fellowship Sponsorship” in the subject line.

Please be aware of the varying application deadlines for your particular funding source. While the salary must be obtained from an outside source, Amara will provide health insurance for the selected fellow
